The Philadelphia Eagles signed all five of their 2019 NFL Draft picks to rookie contracts, according to an official announcement from the team.
1st - No. 22 - Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State
2nd - No. 53 - Miles Sanders, RB, Penn State
2nd - No. 57 - J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford
4th - No. 138 - Shareef Miller, DE, Penn State
5th - No. 167 - Clayton Thorson, QB, Northwestern
The team also announced jersey numbers for these players: Dillard is No. 77, Sanders is No. 26, JJAW is No. 19, Miller is No. 76 (not great!), and Thorson is No. 8.
These rookie contracts are four-year deals worth a predetermined amount of money (more on that below). The Eagles have the ability to exercise a fifth-year option on Dillard’s contract since he was a first-round pick.
Signing draft picks used to be a bigger issue before the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Aside from some occasional exceptions (see: Joey Bosa in 2016), pick signings are really just a formality in today’s NFL. It’s good to see the Eagles got some paperwork out of the way.
These young guys will practice at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia this week for the first time ever as Eagles rookie minicamp begins on Friday, May 10.
