Malcolm Jenkins spends Memorial Day with Eagles’ secondary

It might not be on the field but the veteran safety is still bonding with his teammates.

A lot has been made recently about Malcolm Jenkins not reporting for the first few days of Eagles’ OTAs, but just because he isn’t on the field for voluntary practice, doesn’t mean he still isn’t being the leader we’ve all come to expect.

On Monday, Jenkins posted a picture of him with a good portion of the secondary hanging out somewhere near the water — I would guess based on the swimsuits.

You’ve got (from left to right) Josh Hawkins, Jalen Mills, Rodney McLeod, Jenkins, Ronald Darby, Cre’Von LeBlanc, Sidney Jones and Blake Countess. (Rasul Douglas and Avonte Maddox notably absent.)

So while Jenkins may or may not be holding out on OTAs because he wants a new contract — the reason widely suspected but yet to be confirmed by the safety himself — he’s still taking his role in bonding with his teammates seriously.

We’ll see how long before Jenkins takes the field with his teammates, but regardless, it seems he’s still acting like a leader among his position group.
