The Eagles are starting their offseason program this week and they’ll have their No. 2 quarterback firmly in place, with Nate Sudfeld having signed his second-round tender worth about $3 million in 2019.

One of the moves the Eagles made ahead of free agency was placing the restricted free agent tender on Sudfeld — someone both Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman have continuously put their faith behind. Sudfeld signing his tender is a formality that was always to be expected.
Now that Nick Foles is the franchise quarterback in Jacksonville, it’s good that the Eagles have someone familiar with the team and scheme heading into 2019, and he’s a good resource for new running back Jordan Howard — with the two having played together at Indiana in college.
We polled the BGN readers heading into free agency about whether they supported Sudfeld as the backup to Carson Wentz, and he seemed to be the heir-apparent with Foles gone.
He doesn’t have a ton of regular season experience, but was active for almost have the season in 2018, and scored his first career touchdown late in the year. Sudfeld also showed his ability at long passes and to extend plays in the 2018 preseason.
Sudfeld is currently set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
