NFL Draft prospect Quinnen Williams names Eagles’ Jason Kelce as his favorite player

It’s not an expected pick, but it’s a good one.

Perhaps it was a little surprising that a defensive lineman would name a center as his favorite player, but that’s exactly what Alabama prospect Quinnen Williams did on Thursday. Speaking on Chris Simms Unbuttoned, Williams named the EaglesJason Kelce as his favorite pro player, and for good reason.

According to ProFootball Talk, Williams explained:

“My favorite football player is Jason Kelce, so going up against him is going to be crazy. I’ve looked up to him, I’ve watched everything he does,” Williams said. “He’s the real deal. I’ve gone against a lot of centers, and I watch Jason Kelce film, study him, learn his technique, learn the things he does, and then I can defeat other centers. . . . He’s my favorite player.”

As a defensive player, Williams spends a lot of time studying interior offensive line play, and the player he keeps coming back to is Kelce. With the Pro Bowl center consistently among the best at what he does, Williams figures if he studies Kelce, he’ll be ready to take on players at the next level.

The Alabama prospect is considered one of the best players available in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, and likely won’t be available for the Eagles at No. 25. Which is a shame, because he’d be a fantastic addition to the Philadelphia locker room.
