Free agent running back Jay Ajayi left his visit with the Indianapolis Colts without a new contract, according to multiple reports.
Sounded like this visit, which was today, went well. Nothing imminent, but the two sides will keep talking. https://t.co/qzzmNHBkXe

This should not be surprising given his injury situation (ACL). IMO, would have been more surprising if they pulled the trigger immediately.

As noted here, it’s still possible Ajayi will sign with the Colts. Him not signing a deal today doesn’t mean he won’t do so in the coming days.
But it does mean Ajayi is still on the market. And it’s possible the Philadelphia Eagles could re-enter the picture. Such was the case with Ronald Darby visiting with the Chiefs last week. After failing to work out a deal with Kansas City, Darby ultimately circled back with the Eagles to re-sign a one-year contract with Philly.
So, perhaps Ajayi will end up coming back to the Eagles. Philly certainly has an obvious need at running back. Signing the Jay Train to a one-year, “prove it” deal wouldn’t be the worst way to address the position.
Alternatively, Ajayi could end up signing with the Colts (or another team) and potentially help the Eagles get another compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
We’ll soon see how this situation plays out.
