Report: DeSean Jackson and the Eagles are “destined for each other again, barring the unforeseen”

It’s happening?!

NFL: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

UPDATE: Real interesting note here from Eagles sideline reporter Howard Eskin. DeSean Jackson has already agreed to terms with the Eagles even though he hasn’t been officially released by the Buccaneers?

Original story below.

Earlier today in the wee hours of the morning, ESPN reported DeSean Jackson prefers to rejoin the Philadelphia Eagles. Now NFL insider Chris Mortensen is doubling down on that report. He’s even going as far to say Jackson and the Eagles are “destined for each other again, barring the unforeseen.”

It certainly seems like Jackson will no longer be playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran wide receiver recently posted a goodbye message on his official Instagram and Twitter accounts:

Despite this parting message, however, multiple reporters have noted that Jackson has not been officially released. (Yet, at least.)

It feels like it’s only a matter of time before the Bucs cut Jackson. He doesn’t want to be there anymore and the Bucs aren’t going to be receiving trade offers for a 32-year-old receiver on the last year of his contract.

If/when the Bucs finally release Jackson, it sounds like he’ll be ending up back in Philly. It’s an exciting thought for the Eagles to potentially be adding last year’s NFL leader in yards per reception to their team. Philly has badly needed a legitimate deep threat.

Free agency is crazy and things can change fast so Jackson to the Eagles isn’t quite official yet. But if the reports are any indication, it looks like DJacc could soon be back in midnight green.
