The news of Bryce Harper signing with the Phillies is less than 24 hours old and yet the baseball superstar is already recruiting other high profile players to Philadelphia.
Shortly after the Harper signing broke on Thursday, impending free agent running back Le’Veon Bell posted this image on his Instagram story with the following caption: “philly goin crazy right now congrats brotha @bharper3407”

Harper saw that Bell tagged him and responded to him with a private message, which Bell recently shared on his Instagram story. The message reads: “Aye come join! Let’s take this city by storm. Bring as many titles we can to the greatest city in the world. Brotherly Love. #SecureTheBag”

I mean ... this is straight up fan fiction turned into reality!
As you know, Harper isn’t the only Philly athlete to recruit Bell on social media recently. Over the weekend, Eagles players Malcolm Jenkins, Lane Johnson, Chris Long, and Cre’Von LeBlanc all made public recruiting pitches.
It remains to be see if the Eagles’ front office has interest in Bell. The feeling here is that he’ll be too expensive for their taste. But it sure seems like Bell has interest in playing in Philly. And if the Eagles DO want him, it doesn’t hurt that they have pro athletes helping to sell him on choosing Philly.
