Finding first round fits for the Eagles with The Draft Network

The offseason is NFL Draft season and the Philadelphia Eagles have a tough decision to make in the first round. Luckily it’s a good year to need defensive line help and the offensive tackle class is shaping up to be better than first thought. There’s also some attractive playmakers that could be there at the 25th pick. With all the mocks flying around, who is on the scent and who is talking straight up poppycock?

That’s what The Kist & Solak Show #77 tries to figure out! To do so we brought on special guest Joe Marino, the Senior NFL Draft analyst for The Draft Network and co-host of the Draft Dudes podcast.

Prospects/topics covered include:

• Clemson has three players from their defensive line frequently mocked to the Eagles. Dexter Lawrence, Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins. Of them all, Lawrence makes the least sense to us.

• Mississippi State’s defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has a first round film grade from me, but will character concerns that kept him out of the NFL Combine keep also prevent teams from making him the face of their draft haul?
• Marino recently mocked Delaware safety Nasir Adderley to the Eagles. We both love his game and the copious boxes he checks.
• Is there an answer at offensive tackle? West Virginia’s Yodny Cajuste needs some technical refinement with his punch but overall offers an intriguing skill set.

• If Jordan Hicks moves on, is an early linebacker in play? We have some concerns about LSU linebacker Devin White’s mental processing but the mound of clay is attractively athletic and physical.
• Alabama running back Josh Jacobs or Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.. who ya got?
• Taking a peek at possible Day 2 targets for the Eagles.
