Saturday’s NHL Stadium Series game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins had an obvious Eagles flare as the game was hosted outdoors at Lincoln Financial Field.
It just so happens that one Eagles element may have helped the Flyers pull off what Philly’s hockey players have been calling their “biggest win of the year.”
Prior to Saturday’s game, Super Bowl winning head coach Doug Pederson gave the Flyers a little pep talk in the Eagles’ locker room. Watch below:

“Biggest of the game year, right? Why’s it the biggest game? Because it’s the next one you’ve got. It’s the next one on the schedule. So here we go. In net tonight, Big Moose, where you at? Mooose. Here we go, on defense, Sandy and Provy on defense, alright? And our forwards tonight, Coots, Oscar, and Jakey. Alright? Let’s go boys. Hey, have fun. Have fun out there. Large crowd out there tonight, have fun doing it. Good luck, men. Good luck.”
The Flyers fell down 3-1 to the Penguins but they ultimately came back to win in overtime. Could they have pulled off the comeback with Pederson’s motivation? It’s impossible to say.
Seriously, though, it was fun to see Pederson and the Eagles showing some Brotherly Love to the Flyers. Jason Kelce was also at the game.

And while I’m not really convinced that one win changed much in the big picture for a middling Flyers team, it was at least a fun night where they beat their cross-state rival.
Hopefully the Eagles can extend Philadelphia’s current undefeated streak at the Linc in 2019.
