Playing the New York Giants might just be exactly what the Philadelphia Eagles need to snap their three-game losing streak.
Sure, many said the same thing about the Miami Dolphins matchup this past weekend. But the Giants are even worse! New York owns the league’s longest losing streak after losing their last eight games. If they lose to the Eagles this week, the Giants will tie a mark for the longest losing streak in franchise history.
The Giants are so bad that the Eagles — even after losing to the Dolphins — are still favored by 8 points against their NFC East rivals on Monday Night Football, according to DraftKings Sportbook.
The G-Men have no shortage of issues. Pat Shurmur is arguably the least inspiring head coach in the NFL. New York’s defense ranks 29th in DVOA. Daniel Jones has shown some promise but the rookie quarterback has also accounted for 26 combined interceptions and fumbles in 11 games played this season. Jones has most recently lost seven fumbles in his last six starts.
The Eagles obviously have a lot of flaws of their own. A plodding offense, a shreddable defense, coaching issues, etc. But, for all their faults, one thing the Birds HAVE done consistently well for a long time now is beat the Giants. The Eagles are 18-4 in their last 22 meetings against their division opponents from New Jersey.
If the Eagles can continue their dominance and win on Monday night, it’ll actually be the first time in NFL history that Philadelphia pulls ahead in the all-time series between these two teams. The current record, which dates back to 1933, is tied up at 86-86-2.
Maybe you don’t care about that. Maybe you don’t want to see the Eagles win this games since you’d rather see them get a better pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. That sentiment clearly exists:

But if you do want to see the Eagles win and stay alive in the NFC East race, well, there’s a decent chance they’ll do just that on Monday night.
