NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 17 Games

Here are some suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

Before the seventeenth Sunday of the 2019 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for the Week 17 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings SportsBook.

My overall record so far is 114-119-7 after going 7-8-1 last week. I’m now tied with the collective BGN community, which is also 114-119-7 so far. Week 17 will decide the regular season champ!

NFL WEEK 17 GAMES

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-9.5): The Chiefs likely won’t land a first-round bye since they need a New England home loss to Miami ... but they need to give themselves a chance in case something crazy happens. They handle the Bolts with ease. PICK: Chiefs -9.5

MIAMI DOLPHINS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (-16.5): There’s no chance the Pats are messing around with a chance to clinch the No. 2 seed. Miami just lost by 16 to an Eli Manning-led team a couple weeks ago. They can easily lose big again here. PICK: Patriots -16.5

GREEN BAY PACKERS (-11) at DETROIT LIONS: The Packers need this win to help their chances at a first-round bye. The Lions need this loss to give themselves a chance at getting Chase Young. Neither side benefits from making this game competitive, so naturally it will be. PICK: Lions +11

NEW YORK JETS at BUFFALO BILLS (-1): Sean McDermott has his Bills playing for pride despite the fact they should be resting their starters. Seems pretty on brand for them to win here. PICK: Bills -1

CHICAGO BEARS (-3.5) at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: The Vikings are resting starters since they’re locked in to the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoff picture. I like Chicago’s defense to be able to stop the mighty Sean Mannion. The Bears will be beating the Vikings in Week 17 for the second year in a row. PICK: Bears -3.5

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-13.5) at CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Saints are going to be playing hard for their chance to secure a first-round bye. The Panthers have lost seven in a row, including a 32-point defeat last week. It’d be great to see Carolina play spoiler but it’s hard to count on Will Grier being able to do that. PICK: Saints -13.5

CLEVELAND BROWNS (-3) at CINCINNATI BENGALS: It’d be so fitting for the Browns season that was supposed to be about them making the leap to a good team ended with them losing to the league’s worst team. Cincy was competitive against Cleveland the last time these two teams played a few weeks back. PICK: Bengals +3

ATLANTA FALCONS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (PICK): The Falcons are 5-2 in their last seven games; they’ve been playing hard despite not having anything to play for. I’ll side with them before I even count on turnover machine Jameis Winston. PICK: Falcons

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-1) at BALTIMORE RAVENS: Call me crazy but I think Robert Griffin III and Baltimore’s backups can actually beat Devlin Hodges and a Steelers team fighting for a playoff spot. This is a big audition spot for RG3. PICK: Ravens +1

TENNESSEE TITANS (-6) at HOUSTON TEXANS: The Texans are resting Deshaun Watson and some other key players so it’s hard to count on them to beat a Titans team that’s going to be fighting hard for the No. 6 seed. PICK: Titans -6

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (-4) at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Eagles’ defense is a concern here as they’ve allowed 29 points per game on the road this season. Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley are going to be able to have some success against Jim Schwartz’s unit. With that said, the Eagles are also going to be able to score on a vulnerable Giants defense. The Eagles are going to find a way to win this game and clinch the NFC East but it’s going to take a hard-fought effort. Eagles win but the Giants manage to cover. PICK: Giants +4

OAKLAND RAIDERS at DENVER BRONCOS (-3.5): The Raiders are still playing for a playoff spot ... but so what? They’re a pretty bad team. They rank below Denver in DVOA and point differential. PICK: Broncos -3.5

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-6) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Do you see the Jags — who’ve routinely been getting blown out — suddenly playing hard for their lame duck coach? I don’t. The Colts have more pride to play for. They can at least be proud of reaching .500 in a season where their starting quarterback surprisingly retired days before Week 1. PICK: Colts -6

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-3) at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: The Seahawks have been unusually vulnerable at home all season and the 49ers aren’t really about to get swept in the regular season by a Seattle team that’s worse than them, right? San Fran will find a way to get it done with the No. 1 seed on the line. PICK: 49ers -3
