There’s one more week to go but there’s no turning back for the Philadelphia Eagles, who have burned their ships and control their destiny after a 17-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Once again the Eagles have found an identity and a rallying cry just in time for a late playoff push. Meanwhile, the Cowboys might as well still be sitting on their bus waiting for their flight out after an embarrassing showing.
With the season on the line, Carson Wentz built on two comeback wins against divisional foes by felling another with an excellent performance. This recent stretch of play by Wentz is important, but what’s also key is the performance from a young supporting cast that’s hungry to prove themselves. That’s yielded better results than the complacency and critical errors that plagued the Eagles throughout the season and by proxy has changed the conversation surrounding Wentz.
Now all that remains between the Eagles and the playoffs is a New York Giants team that will be very interested in playing the role of spoiler. Given the nature of the Eagles season, nothing should be taken for granted, but for once the Eagles are on a roll and the message from the leaders on the roster and the staff seems to be resonating at the exact right time.
