Eagles vs. Cowboys inactives: Derek Barnett WILL play

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their 2019 NFL Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The following seven Eagles players have been ruled INACTIVE: Jordan Howard, Nelson Agholor, Lane Johnson, Shareef Miller, Nate Sudfeld, Nate Herbig, and Sua Opeta.

Derek Barnett and Avonte Maddox are notably ACTIVE after being listed as questionable on the final injury report. This marks Barnett’s first game played since Week 13; he figures to resume his starting role opposite of Brandon Graham. Maybe his return can spark the pass rush? As for Maddox, he only just picked up an injury during Friday’s practice. If he has to leave the game early, Cre’Von LeBlanc will be in line to play nickel cornerback.

Howard hasn’t played since Week 9 despite previously being described as “day-to-day.” The Eagles will use Miles Sanders and Boston Scott as their primary two running backs. Jay Ajayi didn’t play a snap last week and that’ll likely be the case again here, barring injury.

Agholor’s expected absence means the Eagles will be down to just Greg Ward, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and Robert Davis at wide receiver. And JJAW was limited in practice this week due to a foot injury. The Eagles view third string tight end Joshua Perkins as a hybrid receiver, but, c’mon with that. The offense will have to mostly run through the tight ends and running backs once again.

Johnson was ruled out on the final injury report so we’ve known it’ll be Halapoulivaati Vaitai starting at right tackle. He’s going to need to have a real good game going up against Demarcus Lawrence.

Miller, Sudfeld, Herbig, and Opeta are all healthy scratches. No surprises there.
