The Eagles and Cowboys have been here before.
The NFL has taken to scheduling late-season match-ups between these two teams in recent seasons, and in many of those cases, the games have been do-or-die, win-or-go-home contests.
On the latest edition of BGN Memories, host John Stolnis took a look at late-season games from five seasons: 1991, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2013. In each of these games, the Eagles either made the playoffs based on their victory over Dallas (‘06, ‘08 and ‘13), were eliminated from postseason contention (‘91), or had their postseason seeding drastically altered (‘09).
The good news is that the Eagles are 3-2 in these five contests, splitting two home games and winning two out of three in Dallas. This Sunday’s match-up won’t clinch a playoff spot for the Eagles but, if they lose, it will end their season one week earlier than they would have hoped, while the Cowboys will have clinched the NFC East.
