The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make some roster moves at wide receiver given the injuries at that position but in the meantime they’ve made announced a smaller change.
The Eagles officially signed defensive tackle Albert Huggins to the practice squad and released defensive tackle Kevin Wilkins.
The Eagles previously signed Huggins off the Houston Texans’ practice squad back in October. The undrafted rookie free agent logged 44 snaps as the Eagles’ fourth defensive tackle before the team waived him prior to the Week 13 Miami Dolphins.
The Eagles intended on signing Huggins to their practice squad but the New England Patriots claimed him off waivers. The Pats then recently waived Huggins in order to re-sign Nick Folk. New England reportedly wanted to keep Huggins on their practice squad but he clearly chose to sign back with Philly instead.
Reacquiring Huggins gives the Eagles another defensive tackle for practice purposes. Fletcher Cox, Timmy Jernigan, and Anthon Rush are the only three defensive tackles on the 53-man roster.
Wilkins only signed to the Eagles’ practice squad last week after previously spending training camp with the team. Now the Rutgers alumnus is a free agent once again.
The Eagles could potentially call up at least one of their three practice squad receivers so stay tuned for even more changes.
