Eagles fans rooting guide for Week 12 games

Here are the teams you should be rooting for ... and against.

NFL: New England Patriots at Philadelphia Eagles Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The twelfth Sunday of the 2019 NFL season is upon us. Here’s a Philadelphia Eagles focused rooting guide for all of the Week 12 games.

NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE

Here’s what the race for the playoffs currently looks like, via ESPN.

The Eagles’ best shot of making the postseason is by winning the NFC East (28.5% chance per Football Outsiders) as opposed to relying on a wild card berth (8.7%).

EAGLES GAME

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: The Eagles’ playoff chances will increase to over 50% with a win and drop to nearly 25% with a loss. Win the game, Eagles.

NFC EAST

DALLAS COWBOYS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: The Eagles really need the Cowboys not to pull an upset here. Dallas beating the Pats would wipe out the common games tiebreaker that Philly currently has over the Cowboys. Root for the Patriots.

NEW YORK GIANTS at CHICAGO BEARS: It’d be ideal to see the Giants win here and screw up their positioning in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Bears falling further out of the wild card picture is a bonus. Root against the Bears.

DETROIT LIONS at WASHINGTON: If the season ended today, Washington would have the No. 2 overall pick. It’d be nice if they messed that up with some meaningless wins. Root against the Lions.

NFC GAMES

CAROLINA PANTHERS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The Saints having home field advantage in the playoffs is not desirable. The Panthers aren’t a real contender for the wild card with Kyle Allen quickly turning into a pumpkin. Root for the Panthers.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: The 49ers getting the No. 1 seed is the most ideal situation since they’re the most upsettable team that could possibly get that spot. Root for the 49ers.

BALTIMORE RAVENS at LOS ANGELES RAMS: The Eagles definitely aren’t going to be able to make a wild card push if the Rams keep winning. Besides, the Ravens are fun and easy to root for. Root for the Ravens.

DRAFT PICK WATCH

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at ATLANTA FALCONS: The Eagles own the Falcons’ sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft thanks to the Johnathan Cyprien trade. Might as well root for that pick to be as good as it can possibly be. Root for the Buccaneers.

WHAT’S LEFT

DENVER BRONCOS at BUFFALO BILLS: If you’re all in on the Eagles making the playoffs at any cost, you’ll want to see Philly’s “strength of victory” tiebreaker improve with a Bills win. Plus a Broncos loss puts NYG and Washington closer to falling under Denver in the draft order. Root for the Bills.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: The winless Bengals are currently slated to own the No. 1 overall pick. Here’s hoping it stays that way. Root for the Steelers.

MIAMI DOLPHINS at CLEVELAND BROWNS: Both NYG and Washington are currently ahead of the Dolphins in the draft order. Need Miami to get ahead of them. Root for the Browns.

OAKLAND RAIDERS at NEW YORK JETS: Would be nice to see the Jets get ahead of NYG and Washington in the draft order. Root for the Raiders.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at TENNESSEE TITANS: If you’re rooting for Nick Foles to keep his job over Gardner Minshew, you’re cheering for a Jags win. Root for the Jaguars.

BYE WEEK

Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings
