Eagles vs. Bills Week 8 game preview and predictions

Is it too much to ask for the Philadelphia Eagles to not turn in a completely miserable performance this week?

Hopefully not.

It feels like it’s been forever since an Eagles game has been actually fun to watch. Even the blowout win over the Jets wasn’t as enjoyable as it could’ve been. Of course, it was still preferable to seeing the Eagles get outscored 75 to 30 over the past two weeks.

Today’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills could be another ugly game and the weather could play a part in that. It’s looking windy and rainy up in Orchard Park:

This isn’t an ideal spot for the Eagles by any means. Bad conditions. On the road for their third straight game after two bad losses. Dealing with off-field drama for the third week in a row. Facing a 5-1 team with a head coach in Sean McDermott who would likely love a taste of revenge against the team that fired him in 2011.

So, here’s what we see the Eagles are made of. Doug Pederson’s teams have responded to adversity — specifically in the form of bad losses — well in the past. Can they do it again here? Do Orlando Scandrick’s comments end up galvanizing this team?

I can’t say I feel great about the Eagles. Really, who could? But I haven’t completely lost faith in them just yet. I’m going down with the ship and taking them to win by the skin of their teeth. I think the defense will be able to contain Josh Allen, who is sporting a mere 80.2 passer rating this season. The Eagles’ offense will be able to do just enough with Carson Wentz leading a game-winning touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter.
