The past three weeks have been interesting for the Jets — losing already once to the Patriots in Week 4 and then to the Eagles in Week 5 —, but with Sam Darnold back for their Week 6 contest against the Cowboys, the team has started gaining momentum. A week after losing 31-6 against the Eagles, they beat Dallas 24-22 for their very FIRST win of the season.
Just because they have Darnold back, however, doesn’t mean they’re entirely healthy. They had more than a few players injured during the week, and adjust their practice schedule to accommodate them, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
“Jets injury update: LT Kelvin Beachum (ankle) is listed as week-to-week, which doesn’t bode well for Monday night. Ditto, TE Chris Herndon (hamstring). The Jets are beat up at linebacker, with Neville Hewitt (stinger), Albert McClellan (concussion) and C.J. Mosley (groin) nursing injuries. Because of the injury situation, Adam Gase decided to wait a day before beginning on-field prep for the Patriots. They’ll still have three practices.”
One of the notable former Eagles who was supposed to suit up for this matchup was DE Michael Bennett, but he was suspended for one game by the Patriots for conduct detrimental to the team. He issued an apology (of sorts), but will sit this one out.
Just spoke with #Pats DE Michael Bennett, who provided this statement to ESPN re his one-week suspension: “On Friday, I had a philosophical disagreement with my position coach that has led to my suspension. I apologize to my teammates for any distraction this may have caused.”— Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) October 15, 2019
