Here are some suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

Before the seventh Sunday of the 2019 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for the Week 7 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings SportsBook.

My overall record so far is 41-49-3 after going 7-7 last week and correctly predicting this week’s TNF game. I’m still doing better than the collective BGN community, which is 37-53-3 so far.

NFL WEEK 7 GAMES

MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-2.5) at DETROIT LIONS: The Lions should have a better record than 2-2-1. They’ve had some pretty bad luck in their last two losses. They’re due for some good luck in this game that they really need more than their opponents do. Certainly not the worst home dogs bet you could make. PICK: Lions +2.5

LOS ANGELES RAMS (-3) at ATLANTA FALCONS: Jared Goff’s been awfully pedestrian in his last 14 starts (14 TD, 15 INT) but he should be able to rebound against an Atlanta defense that ranks 31st in passing DVOA. Jalen Ramsey’s presence should also give the Rams’ defense a boost. PICK: Rams -3

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-9.5) at WASHINGTON REDSKINS: Washington barely beat the worst team in the NFL last weekend. What would make you want to take them here? Kyle Shanahan is going to want to run up the score against his former employer. PICK: 49ers -9.5

OAKLAND RAIDERS at GREEN BAY PACKERS (-5.5): The Raiders are probably a little better than most realize; Oakland ranks 16th in DVOA. The Packers are good but they’ve had some shaky moments. Green Bay wins but they don’t cover. PICK: Raiders +5.5

MIAMI DOLPHINS at BUFFALO BILLS (-17.5): The Dolphins have been outscored 102 to 10 in Ryan Fitzpatrick starts this season. Why would you have any faith in a Miami team that’s trying to lose as they play in Buffalo against a tough Bills defense that’s coming off their bye week? PICK: Bills -17

HOUSTON TEXANS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-1.5): The Texans have the edge when it comes to quarterback but Frank Reich gives the Colts an advantage over Bill O’Brien. Indy should also be well-rested coming off their bye. I’ll ride with the home team in what’s essentially a pick ‘em. PICK: Colts -1.5

ARIZONA CARDINALS at NEW YORK GIANTS (-4): I like the Cardinals outright in this spot. Kyler Murray is on the come while Daniel Jones is struggling with turnovers. The Cardinals should be able to at least keep this within three points. PICK: Cardinals +4

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (-4.5) at CINCINNATI BENGALS: The Jags aren’t so good that they should be favored by this much on the road. And the winless Bengals aren’t this bad. Four of Cincy’s six losses have come by one score and three of them were within four points. Take the points. PICK: Bengals +4.5

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS at TENNESSEE TITANS (-3): Whooooooo carressssssss. If the Bolts can lose to “Devlin Hodges,” surely they can lose to Ryan Tannehill. The quarterback change might give the Titans a little spark? No pun intended. PICK: Titans -3

BALTIMORE RAVENS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-2): The Seahawks haven’t had a big home field advantage thus far but I do like betting on NFL MVP race leader Russell Wilson in this situation. PICK: Seahawks -2

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at CHICAGO BEARS (-4): Teddy Bridgewater hasn’t looked super impressive while filling in for Drew Brees. I don’t love him going up against this Bears defense that’s coming off a bye. I also really don’t love Mitchell Trubisky, who might be playing at less than 100%, going up against this Saints defense. In a game that could end up being close either way, the points are the tempting play. PICK: Saints +4

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at DALLAS COWBOYS (-3): You should know by now that I’m the expert when it comes to picking Cowboys games. After correctly stating there’s no chance they’d lose any of their last three games, I’ll say it once again: zero chance Dallas loses to the Eagles. PICK: Cowboys -3

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (-9.5) at NEW YORK JETS: The Jets aren’t getting enough respect here. Sam Darnold being back makes a big difference for this team, as we saw last week. The Jets can at least find a way to cover in this spot. PICK: Jets +9.5
