The following seven Eagles players have been ruled INACTIVE: DeSean Jackson, Ronald Darby, Avonte Maddox, Timmy Jernigan, Darren Sproles, Nate Herbig, and Shareef Miller.
There are no surprises here. Jackson, Darby, Maddox, Jernigan, and Sproles were all ruled out on Friday’s final injury report. Herbig and Miller haven’t been active for a single game this season as they’re essentially glorified practice squad members.
The Eagles seem to be hoping Jackson can play in Week 7. In the meantime, Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, and Mack Hollins are the top three wide receivers. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn reports Agholor will also be on punt return duty. Given his issues with ball security this season (drops and fumbles), what could go wrong?
Darby and Maddox out means Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, and Orlando Scandrick will be the Eagles’ top three corners. Jones and Douglas figure to start on the outside with Scandrick playing as the nickel guy. Expect the Vikings to test out Jones early on as he plays for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4. Craig James and Ryan Lewis are the backup corners.
Jernigan being out means the Eagles are down to Fletcher Cox, Hassan Ridgeway, and Akeem Spence at defensive tackle. We could see some defensive ends, such as Brandon Graham, continue to get interior snaps.
With Sproles out and Corey Clement going to injured reserve, the Eagles only have three running backs active: Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, and Boston Scott. Scott was promoted from the practice squad to the roster on Friday.
Nate Sudfeld is active as a third quarterback since the Eagles have injured players taking up five of their seven inactive spots.
Daeshon Hall is active for his fourth game this season. Matt Pryor is active for the third time this year.
