The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 6 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Eagles ruled the following six players OUT: DeSean Jackson, Ronald Darby, Avonte Maddox, Darren Sproles, Corey Clement, and Timmy Jernigan.
Jackson hasn’t played since Week 2. There’s some talk he might be able to return against the Dallas Cowboys next week but that’s hardly guaranteed. In the meantime, the Eagles will roll with Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, and Mack Hollins as their three primary wide receivers with JJ Arcega-Whiteside behind them.
Darby and Maddox being out means the following five corners will be active for Philly: Rasul Douglas, Sidney Jones, Orlando Scandrick, Craig James, and Ryan Lewis. Jones is set to start across from Douglas this week after not playing in Week 5; we’ll have to see how his hamstring holds up. Scandrick figures to be the Eagles’ nickel corner.
Sproles was described as “week-to-week” with a quad injury so he’s bound to miss multiple games. Sproles’ absence would’ve opened up playing time for Clement but now he’s hurt again as well. Bad timing. The Eagles are currently down to just Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders as their healthy running backs for Sunday’s game. They could call up Boston Scott from the practice squad to give them a third. Even so, the Eagles still need to figure out what to do at punt returner with Sproles and Clement out. Scott isn’t very experienced in that capacity. UPDATE: As expected, the Eagles promoted Scott ... and, in a corresponding move, placed Clement on injured reserve.
Jernigan is one-to-three weeks away from being healthy enough to return. Fletcher Cox, Hassan Ridgeway, and Akeem Spence are the Eagles’ three defensive tackles. The team would be wise to continue to give Brandon Graham snaps on the inside — like they did against the Jets — since he can generate pressure from there.
Jason Peters and Rodney McLeod are set to play despite appearing on the injury report earlier in the week.
Nelson Agholor was limited in Friday’s practice due to illness but that shouldn't prevent him from playing.
Note that Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills can be activated from PUP as soon as Week 7. It seems like he’ll at least practice next week. Cre’Von LeBlanc can be activated from IR as soon as Week 9.
