The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-0 in 10 all-time games against the New York Jets, dating back to 1973.
It’ll take one heck of an effort for the Jets to make the series 10-1 as they face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday.
According to the DraftKings Sportsbook, the 2-2 Eagles are whopping 14-point favorites against the 0-3 Jets. Only the undefeated New England Patriots (-14.5 at Washington) are favored by more points this weekend.
Barring an epic disaster on the Eagles’ end, it feels pretty safe to say they’re going to beat the Jets this week. They’re coming off a very impressive win over a previously unbeaten Packers team. The Eagles are hardly without their faults — such as an injured and exposed secondary — but they’re still far out in front of the Jets.
Especially so when it comes to the quarterback situation. The Jets haven’t officially ruled out Sam Darnold yet but it’s sounding like third string option Luke Falk could be under center for New York once again. And even if Darnold does suit up, it’s hardly like he’ll instantly fix all of the Jets’ offensive issues. This is a team that ranks 31st in offensive DVOA. This should be a unit that even a struggling Eagles defense can contain.
New York’s defense hasn’t been a disaster, unless you’re referring to the Giants. The Jets have allowed an average of 23.3 points per game, which ranks 18th in the league. The Jets are 11th in defensive DVOA so far.
The Jets are 2-7 in road games since the Darnold era began. The Eagles, meanwhile, are 17-5 straight up in 22 games as home favorites since the Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz eras began in 2016. That 77.3% winning percentage is tied for the sixth best mark in the league during that span.
Sunday marks an opportunity for the Eagles to not only pick up a very attainable win but to also make a statement and beat up on an outmatched opponent. It’ll be disappointing if this game ends up being closer than it has to be.
Are you confident in a blowout Eagles win this week?
