Reacting to the Eagles’ exhilarating playoff upset of the Bears

The Kist & Solak Show #65!

NFL: NFC Wild Card-Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

For the second year in a row, the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles have knocked out one of the top defenses in the league. It wasn’t a scoring bonanza but in the end, the Eagles’ 12-play, 60-yard fourth quarter touchdown drive wound up winning the game in dramatic fashion. The Chicago Bears and the other top 7 defenses are no longer in the playoffs.

Doug Pederson is now 4-0 as a playoff coach. Nick Foles is now 4-1 as a playoff starter. In part thanks to a couple fingers from a practice squad call-up, defensive tackle Treyvon Hester.

On The Kist & Solak Show #65 we react to a wild win at Soldier Field. Benjamin Solak was covering the game and got to experience the buzz around the Eagles’ team that has fully embraced the underdog role yet again.

For their part, the top ranked DVOA defense of the Bears did well to limit the Eagles to only 16 points. They stifled the run game, allowing only 42 yards on 23 carries for a 1.63 per carry average. In the passing game they Eagles would only average 6.65 yards per attempt, including two interceptions in their own territory. But the Eagles would convert 7 of 14 money downs, including the game-winning strike on fourth down from Nick Foles to Golden Tate.
