The Chicago Bears have made a late addition to the injury report ahead of their Wild Card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Former Eagle and current Bears starting tight end Trey Burton is now questionable to play, per the Bears’ public relations staff. Burton is listed with a groin injury.
Burton was a full participant in practice all week; he wasn’t even listed on the injury report in any capacity. So, this development is certainly unexpected.
Burton has only missed three games in his five-year NFL career.
If Burton can’t play on Sunday, the Bears will start Adam Shaheen at tight end. Shaheen has been targeted six times this season for five receptions, 48 yards, and one touchdown.
Burton ranks fourth on the Bears in receiving this season with 76 targets for 54 receptions, 569 yards, and six touchdowns.
Hopefully Burton’s injury isn’t super serious but the Eagles sure wouldn’t mind him taking it easy and sitting out on Sunday.
