Previewing the Eagles’ offense vs. the Bears’ defense

The Kist & Solak Show #64!

NFL: Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears’ defense is the best in the league. You could debate this, but it would be a waste of time. There isn’t a defense that can touch the top ranked DVOA defense or their per drive efficiency.

They boast the best edge defender in the league in Khalil Mack. Their duo of Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman are arguably the best pair of interior defensive linemen in the league. If Eddie Jackson is able to go on Sunday, him and Adrian Amos comprise arguably the best safety tandem in the league. To top it all off, they’re coached by one of the best defensive coordinators in the game, Vic Fangio.

They run complex coverages, are flexible in their alignments, and turn the ball over at a higher rate than any defense in the NFL. Even beyond the superstars, they get meaningful contributions to their stout run defense that could force the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles to abandon the run game. We saw this happen against the Houston Texans when the Eagles went with a 31:69 run:pass ratio.

I know what you’re thinking.. but Michael, what about the Minnesota Vikings’ defense last year? Well, if you’re banking on that type of performance, then none of this matters. But, if you’re interested in hearing how the Eagles should attack this defense, we have a show for you.

The Kist & Solak Show #64 breaks down the battle between the Eagles’ offense and the Bears’ defense as best we can. Plus, we give our final predictions for the Wild Card showdown.
