The Philadelphia Eagles released their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Wild Card game against the Chicago Bears. Note that this injury report is an estimation because the Eagles only held a walk-through.
The big news is that Nick Foles was a limited participant. He’s expected to start on Sunday but the Eagles are clearly taking it a little easy on him early in the week. Foles spoke earlier on Wednesday and said he’s still sore but he’s feeling better than he did a few days ago.
Five other Eagles players were limited: Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, Jason Peters, Isaac Seumalo, and Mike Wallace.
The Eagles are likely taking it easy on Cox, Kelce, and Peters early in the week. They should all play.
Seumalo might have a chance to be active this week. But will he return to the starting lineup at left guard? Doug Pederson wouldn’t say if it’ll be him or Stefen Wisniewski if both players are healthy.
It’s unclear if Wallace has a chance to play on Sunday. He still might be another week away. Pederson didn’t seem overly optimistic about his status on Monday.
Four players did not practice on Wednesday: Carson Wentz, Michael Bennett, Sidney Jones, and D.J. Alexander.
Wentz is set to miss his fourth game in a row. It’ll be Foles under center and Nate Sudfeld backing him up.
Bennett is probably going to play. The Eagles are just giving him extra rest as they’ve been doing for over a month now.
Pederson called Jones a “long shot” to play this week so he’s probably out. Rasul Douglas and Avonte Maddox will continue to start at cornerback with Cre’Von LeBlanc in the nickel role.
Alexander hasn’t played since Week 14. It looks like the special teams linebacker won’t be returning this week.
Jordan Hicks is not listed on the injury report after missing some practice time last week. Good sign.
We’ll find out more about the Eagles’ injury situation when they release their second injury report of the week on Thursday.
