Fletcher Cox was an absolute MONSTER in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 17 regular season finale against the Washington Redskins. He’s officially been rewarded with an NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Despite only playing 32 defensive snaps against Washington, Cox finished the game with four solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, and three quarterback hits. Just ridiculously good. Cox’s efforts ultimately helped the Eagles defense pitch their first shutout since the 2014 NFL season.
Cox’s 10.5 sacks in 2018 mark a career high. The 28-year-old came into the season saying his goal was to be Defensive Player of the Year. That achievement will likely go to Aaron Donald instead but Cox did his best to give Donald a run for his money. (Cox also outplayed Donald when the Eagles defeated the Rams in Week 15.)
The Eagles will need Cox to turn in more dominant performances in the postseason if they’re going to make another Super Bowl run. He certainly seems up for the challenge.
