Could the Eagles lose their quarterbacks coach to the Bengals?

Something to keep an eye on.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor as their new head coach, according to multiple reports. The Bengals can’t officially announce the hire just yet since the Rams are still alive in 2019 NFL Playoffs.

This news could ultimately have an impact on the Philadelphia Eagles. Zac Taylor is the older brother of current Eagles quarterbacks coach Press Taylor. One would think Zac might offer Press a spot on his staff in Cincy ... maybe as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator?

Press can’t leave the Eagles without their permission (or before their 2018 season is over, obviously). Philadelphia can block him from leaving, if they so desire. It remains to be seen if they’d block a sibling from joining his brother, however.

Press originally joined the Eagles’ coaching staff in 2013. He spent three seasons as an offensive quality control coach before being promoted to offensive quality control coach/assistant quarterbacks coach in 2016. He was then promoted to quarterbacks coach with John DeFilippo leaving the Eagles following the 2017 season.

If the Eagles allow Taylor to leave, Philly will be on their third quarterback coach in four seasons.
