Well, this is a bummer.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ home opener against the Atlanta Falcons will not be starting on time (originally scheduled for 8:20 PM ET) as there are thunderstorms looming in the area. Big lightning strikes have been spotted in the sky surrounding Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles called for a very juiced up crowd to leave their seats and seek shelter on the main concourses right before the rain started to pour down:

The hope is that the storms pass through and the Eagles can start the game at 8:55 PM ET.
Keep in mind the Eagles also plan to unveil their Super Bowl banner before kickoff, though, so that suggested start time might be ambitious. We’ll see.
Hopefully things work out and we can get this NFL kickoff game started soon.
(PS: Screw you, mother nature.)

UPDATE: Some fans are having some fun in the rain.
