Here’s a look at which teams Philadelphia Eagles fans should be rooting for during NFL Week 4 games.
EAGLES GAME
Philadelphia Eagles at Tennessee Titans: The Eagles can advance to 3-1 with a win. That’d be nice. Root for the Eagles, obviously.
NFC EAST GAMES
New Orleans Saints at New York Giants: The Saints are ultimately the bigger threat to the Eagles in the NFC playoff picture. But we can always root for them to lose later on. It’d be better to see the Giants knocked down to 1-3 today. Root for the Saints.
Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys: Eagles fans shouldn’t want the Cowboys to lose too much because it’d be worse for Dallas to bottom out and try to find a new head coach and quarterback. With that said, it’d still be great to see them drop to 1-3. Root for the Lions.
NFC GAMES
Buffalo Bills at Green Bay Packers: It’d be great to see Josh Allen upset Aaron Rodgers just one week after Buffalo blew out the Vikings in Minnesota. Don’t think that’s likely, of course, but one can dream. Root for the Bills.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears: As of right now, the Bucs are more threatening to the Eagles than the Bears are. Chicago’s defense is legitimately good but I’m just not scared of Mitchell Trubisky. Plus Tampa Bay already has a head-to-head tie-breaker over Philly. It’d be better if they lose. Root for the Bears.
Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons: Root for the AFC team against an NFC team. Root for the Bengals.
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals: The Cards are pretty trash. Wouldn’t mind seeing them upset Seattle. Although the most ideal situation could be Josh Rosen looking awful and the Cards losing out so that they draft another quarterback, which makes it harder for the Giants and/or Cowboys to do so. For now, let’s keep it simple. Root for the Cardinals.
San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Chargers: The 49ers won’t be drafting a quarterback but I still wouldn’t mind them losing a lot and getting a better draft pick than the Giants and Cowboys do. Root for the Chargers.
DRAFT PICK WATCH
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers: The Ravens won last week, which is annoying. They’re now tied for the AFC North lead at 2-1. In the interest of making their second-round pick more valuable to the Eagles, let’s hope Pittsburgh beats Baltimore today. Root for the Steelers.
WHAT’S LEFT
New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars: Still rooting for Sam Darnold to look good. Going to be tough for that to happen today. I’d like to be wrong about that and I welcome seeing the Jags, Philly’s Week 8 opponent, struggle. Root for the J-E-T-S.
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots: How great would it be to see the Dolphins jump out to 4-0 with the Pats falling to 1-3? Answer: pretty great. Root for the Dolphins.
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts: The Colts winning here helps the Eagles’ strength of victory tie-breaker. The Texans losing helps keep them closer to the top of the draft order. Root for the Colts.
Cleveland Browns at Oakland Raiders: Doesn’t really matter. I think it’d be funny to see Jon Gruden get off to an 0-4 start after receiving a 10-year, $100 million contract. Root for the Browns, I suppose.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos: The Chiefs look pretty scary. I wouldn’t mind them looking vulnerable in a loss for once. Sorry, Andy. Root for the Broncos.
BYE WEEKS
Washington Redskins: Washington has one of those weird Week 4 byes the Eagles had to deal with back in 2016. They’ll return to action in New Orleans against the Saints in Week 5.
Carolina Panthers: Next up for the Panthers is a home game against the Giants.
