Wentz Reports Are All Over The Place

The most interesting story line to follow if you are not an Eagles fan or you are a reporter in sports but want to cover the birds is the eventual return of starting QB Carson Wentz. Ever since Wentz' goal of starting last Thursday fell through, there has been a mad dash from reporters to get the inside scoop from the Philadelphia Eagles brass as to when the Eagles QB will be cleared and when he will play, even though the Eagles will not reveal anything. Join me as I dive in for a closer look and analyze the feels of our starting QB.

The Ian Rappaport Reports:

Ian Rappaport has had reports that gave away the Eagles week 1 starting QB, which pissed off Coach Pederson, and also the report that Wentz is still "several" weeks away from returning to the team. These reports have single handedly made me despise Rappaport. Not because he's not good at his job, I think he's awesome at his job personally and I am sure to follow him on Twitter. I despise him because I have now tied his name to constant bad news for the Eagles so I've conditioned my mind to become scared and upset when I see him talking about the Eagles. His reports of Wentz being "several weeks away" tried to ruin my mood going into the game on Thursday, but like any Eagle fan... I got myself excited for Foles and my faith was rewarded with a win.

Chris Mortensen Report:

Then in season 2 episode 2 of our insane Philadelphia Eagles anime manga... an absolute bomb was dropped by our ESPN buddy in Chris Mortensen by revealing that the Eagles were super optimistic about Wentz' recovery and even included the GPS data pointing to such optimism. The report said Wentz could play in week three possibly! THEN THE COWBOYS LOST. This news was quite contradictory from Rappaport's report that insinuated we may not see Wentz until middle of October at the least. Mortensen's inclusion of the GPS reports in which he states "GPS data has hit a vital threshold- ability to protect himself. Only a setback would cool optimism" was really encouraging to see and lent credibility to the report. Now I want to go on record and say that because Rappaport's report infuriated Pederson, can we truly rule out that now the Eagles are willing to give more info to someone like Mort instead of Ian because Mort didn't tick off Doug?

Mike Garafolo Report:

On Good Morning Football from the NFL Network, Mike Garafolo reported that it is expected to be a few more weeks. From today? No, sounded like he gathered that while he was covering the Eagles leading up to the Falcons game. In the video featured from GMFB, he talks about how he spent the whole week leading up to the game in Philadelphia just covering the Eagles. This information jibes with Mort's report in my view. But this news is hardly shocking and makes it sound like if not the Colts, maybe the Titans would be the other likely option.

What should we believe of the three?

Believe what you want, it sounds like Wentz is close. I am not one of the fans that dislikes Foles. However, I am not willing to be content with a lost season by keeping Wentz out just because we now have a Super Bowl title. Some fans (not on this website, a lot of twitter fans it seems) want Wentz out until week 10. Let me just tell you that Garafolo's report that Jeff Lurie is apparently "okay with affecting this season to help the next 10 seasons" is something I don't buy. That man craves winning, he promised us all in 1994 when he bought the team he was going to get us a Super Bowl. Andy Reid and Chip Kelly were both fired following back to back seasons of missing the playoffs. This man wants to win badly and that will never change.

My Guess:

I'm going with Mortensen, week 3 or week 4 Wentz comes back.
