NFC East After Week 1-- Ohh Baby

It's only week 1, and it's very easy to get ahead of ourselves. But just looking at the other teams performance this first week can only instill a TON of confidence that the Eagles can easily win the NFC East this season. Let's take a closer look.

1) Philadelphia Beats Atlanta 18-12: Every team deserves a week to shake off the cobwebs, and that's exactly how the Falcons and Eagles played. Both teams were sloppy. There was some suspect play calling in the first half. The Falcons redzone woes continue to haunt them. However there are no mulligans in this game, and at the end of the day, the Eagles beat a solid NFC team. What makes this victory even sweeter is that the Eagles were without of course, their MVP caliber QB and their #1 WR. Imagine if the Falcons were playing without Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? It wouldn't even be worth a discussion. The fact that the eagles can lose their 2 best offensive players and still beat one of the best NFC teams speaks volumes as to how good the Eagles truly are.

2) New York Giants LOSE to the Jaguars 20-15: Cue the Eli Manning supporters right now. After the Giants boring loss, with the same putrid offense it has been putting on the field for years, every Giants fan once again has wrote the loss off to poor offensive line play. While yes, Erick Flowers did not have a good game, it's as if Giants fans think that every other teams QB has a magic, indestructible wall to play behind. Every team has weaknesses. And when your weakness is your offensive line, you need a QB that can help cover up those weaknesses. Eli isn't hiding anything. He proved yet again that he is an immobile, washed-up QB whose only option is to throw the ball to Beckham and pray that he does something magical. Now a lot of pro-giants people are trying to take solace in that the giants "held a team that was a few plays away from the Superbowl last year" to 20 points. But they ignore the fact that no one is ever scared of the Jags offense.. it's only their defense that is concerning. Amazingly, this giants team still lost to the Jags without their best offensive player, Leonard Fourntte, for much of the game. Saquan Barkley had a nice long TD run, but sans that play, the Giants offense continued to look anemic. Odell had an OKish game (11 catches for 111 yards). But when all baby Eli does is throw quick slants to Odell, it's hard not to put up respectable numbers. Oh but of course, baby Eli's pick 6 was "entirely Erick Flowers fault" and had nothing to do with Eli's nonathletic ability to escape pressure, or the fact that the ball came out of his hands at an incredibly low trajectory. I love watching this dumpster fire team every year. This is definitely another 3-13 team and I just love the added sour taste that must've been in Giants fans mouths after watching Sam Darnold look like the ROY last night against the Lions. HAHA the giants passed up on Darnold, who would've been a nightmare to play against for the next 10+ years.

3) Redskins beat the Cards 24 to 6. Somehow, the Cards were favored in this game. If you are a gambler, this was the easiest game to pick this week. I have no idea how Sammy Sleeves has somehow hypnotized the entire league in to thinking he is a real NFL QB. It was once again, captain check down the entire afternoon. Bradford seems like an alright guy, but as a football player, he just lacks any sort of fiery motivation that ideally you'd want your leader to have. The Redskins were given a gift in having the Cardinals as their week 1 match-up. AP looked pretty good, and Chris Thompson also has some talent. But you know exactly what you are getting with Alex Smith. And while I think Alex Smith is a very underrated player, the reality is you just can't scare opposing defenses when you have Smith at QB. I'm eager to see how the 'Skins fare against decent teams, but if there's any team that could threaten the Eagles, I think it's the Redskins.

4) Cowboys LOSE to Panthers 16-8. Did the Cowboys actually think they were going to have a potent offense this season with Cole Beasley as their #1 receiver? The Cowboys played exactly how everyone knew theyd play. Dak continues to be on a downward spiral. He has no talent around him at the skills positions (besides Zeke), and he just simply isn't good enough to put the game on his shoulders. The Cowboys desperately need a household name at WR if they want to be AT ALL watchable this season. Look at the panthers... they were without their TE after Olsen left with a foot injury, and Cam Newton is forced to throw to guys like David Funchess. But bc Cam is such an athletic freak, the Panthers are able to make some noise. I just love watching Skip Bayless every Monday morning debating with Shannon Sharpe about the Cowboys. That wrinkly man is always finding ways to defend the Cowboys no matter what! (in this take, Skip defended the cowboys because Skip claimed that he called this being a loss due to the fact that in preseason week 3, Tom Brady and the patriots had a difficult time with the panthers)... What?! The Cowboys have no leaders on their team besides Sean Lee. Romo was a leader. Witten was a leader. Dez was a leader. Prescott may be a leader, but he doesn't have the tools to back it up. And Zeke, as talented as he may be, just looks like a giant idiot. The Cowboys and Giants are going to battle this season for the cellar of the NFC east. My money is on Dallas.

So there you have it, folks. The Giants and Cowboys are <16 in terms of ranking. The Redskins may be good; they are a team with a high floor but a very limited ceiling. Philly gets Wentz and Jeffrey back soon. It's great to be an Eagles fan. But even better to not be forced to root for a team that has an inept coach with very little talent, or for team whose fanbase refuses to accept that their QB is washed up.

Here's to 2-0!
