The Philadelphia Eagles signed three players to their practice squad and released one, according to an official announcement to the team on Monday morning.

The three new additions are all wide receivers and two of them are Millers: Braxton Miller, Reggie Davis, and Dorren Miller.

Braxton Miller, a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, is the most notable name from the bunch. News of the former Ohio State star joining the Eagles’ practice squad was first reported over the weekend. BGN’s Alexis Chassen put a good piece together regarding five things you should know about Braxton Miller.

As for Davis and the other Miller, they worked out for the Eagles last week. A brief background on both players:

Davis, 22, originally signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2017. After getting waived in final cuts last year, he spent a short stint on the Browns’ roster. Then the Falcons brought him back to their practice squad and he remained with Atlanta until final cuts this past weekend. You sure can’t help but wonder if the Eagles may have picked Davis’ brain on the Falcons offense.

The 24-year-old Miller measures in at 6-0, 196 pounds. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. Miller logged two receptions for 25 yards in the preseason.

The Eagles have been in need of extra bodies at wide receiver with Alshon Jeffery expected to miss at least two more games and Mack Hollins having been placed on injured reserve last Thursday. The Eagles currently have five healthy receivers on the 53-man roster: Nelson Agholor, Mike Wallace, DeAndre Carter, Shelton Gibson, and Markus Wheaton. Those players combined for a whopping nine receptions for 43 yards against the Falcons in Week 1.

Tight end Billy Brown is the player the Eagles released from their practice squad to make room for all of these guys. There was hope Brown would be able to take a step forward in his development after spending last year on the PS but he never made the leap this offseason.

The Eagles’ practice squad is now back at the 10-man limit.
