QUICK THOUGHTS
• Jernigan and Maragos beginning the season on NFI and PUP, respectively, means they can’t be activated until Week 7 at the earliest.
• It’s very surprising to see Means get cut. That’s upsetting given he was good depth and served as an important practice player. I’d have thought he’d have SOME kind of trade value.
• Chance Warmack survives yet again. So does Wendel Smallwood.
• DeAndre Carter made the team as the sixth wide receiver! That’s great to see.
• The Eagles kept four tight ends with Joshua Perkins making the squad. This confirms that Richard Rodgers’ “week-to-week” knee injury is indeed significant. And that the Eagles really want to use multiple tight end sets this year.
• Just because the Eagles trimmed down to 53 doesn’t mean the action is over yet. Expect Howie Roseman to continue to churn the bottom of the roster. The Eagles could be looking to add more depth. They’ll also be looking to build their practice squad.
