Recovering from a leg injury won’t stop John Ursua from sprinting towards draft notoriety.
I mentioned the other day that the Hawaii receiver was poised for a big 2018 season after an injury knocked him out last year while he was pacing college football in yards per game. The seemingly diminutive Ursua makes up for his 5’10”, 175 pound stature with great movement skills and dependable hands.
Ursua was a deciding factor in the Rainbow Warriors’ win on Saturday night against Colorado State. The two teams kicked off the 2018 season with a high scoring tug of war that Hawaii eventually won out 43-34. Ursua scored two touchdowns on seven catches, piling up over 120 yards in the process.
His impressive season debut could be indicative of things to come and a healthy Ursua will continue to be among the top producing pass catchers in college football this season. At this pace, it will be hard for his production not to propel him towards interest from NFL teams.
