In exactly one month from today, the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (has a nice ‘ring’ to it) will be playing a football game for the first time since defeating the New England Patriots in Minnesota earlier this year on February 4.
Of course, this upcoming game will be just a tad more meaningless than that other one.
The Eagles will be hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, August 9 for the first game of Philadelphia’s 2018 preseason schedule. Football is almost back, folks.
As a reminder, here’s the Eagles’ entire preseason slate.
Eagles 2018 Preseason Schedule
Week 1 - vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Aug. 9, 7:00 PM ET, NBC10)
Week 2 - at New England Patriots (Aug. 16, 7:30 PM ET, NBC10)
Week 3 - at Cleveland Browns (Aug. 23, 8:00 PM ET, FOX)
Week 4 - vs. New York Jets (Aug. 30, 7:00 PM ET, NBC10)
Seeing the Birds back out on the field will be nice, even if the games are meaningless. At the very least, it’ll help us pass time until the regular season opener on Thursday, September 6.
The Eagles will begin preparing for their preseason games — and more importantly, the rest of their 2018 schedule — when training camp starts later this month on Wednesday, July 25.
The team still hasn’t announced any training camp dates open to the public at the Linc, if you were wondering. We’ll keep you updated if/when that changes.
