The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is searching for answers regarding a dead body found in New York Giants’ cornerback Janoris Jenkins’ home in New Jersey, according to TMZ Sports. According to their source, the body was discovered in the basement on Tuesday morning. It has been noted that Jenkins was not home at the time the body was found and that he has been in Florida since the conclusion of mini-camp on June 14th. Details regarding the identity of the deceased man are not known at this time. (UPDATE 6/26/18 9:20pm est: The man has been identified as Roosevelt Rene, 25, described as a family friend living at the home)

“The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office tells TMZ Sports ... the dead body is a man, but he’s NOT the owner of the house. Officials will not release the identity until next of kin have been notified. ‘The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided when it is available and appropriate for release.’” – TMZ Sports

The body was found by a “worker” and a coroner showed up shortly after police arrived. Jenkins’ has yet to comment on the situation although his camp and the Giants are aware of the situation.

There are additional reports that could prove pivotal as this story continues to unfold. Per Mike Garafalo, law enforcement sources say that strangulation or suffocation is being investigated as a possible cause of death. Additionally, a man claiming to be Jenkins’ brother tried flying to Florida.

We will continue to update this story as details become available.
