Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Carson Wentz pledges $500,000 for sports facility in Haiti - PFT
Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has visited Haiti multiple times and wants to do something to improve life in the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere. He’s hoping a significant donation will help. Wentz announced on Twitter that he’s matching up to $500,000 in donations to build a sports complex that is being planned in Haiti.

Evaluating the top defensive tackle options for the Eagles following the Tim Jernigan injury news - BGN
Jernigan’s recovery time-frame has been estimated at four to six months. In the worst case scenario there, Jernigan would likely miss eight games before returning in mid-November. The Eagles might want to add a free agent defensive tackle if they think he’s going to miss that much time.

NFC East 2018 draft grades: Cowboys edition - PhillyVoice
I thought the Cowboys started strong with the selections of Vander Esch and Williams, and finished strong with potential late-round steals in Wilson and Scarbrough. In the third and fourth rounds, Gallup and Schultz, respectively, may have been a little reachy, but I won’t kill them for that. Overall, I think the Cowboys made a bunch of solid picks.

Jernigan Situation Gets More Complicated - Iggles Blitz
So Jernigan hurt himself while working out on his own. That’s why he is having surgery now and not back when the season ended. The injury had nothing to do with the 2017 season. The Eagles could have cut him because this was a non-football injury, but instead decided to re-work his deal. That is fair to both sides. The Eagles had great chemistry last year and the organization wants happy players, but they have to be careful with a DT coming off a serious back injury. As to this year, Jernigan could be out until early November, the midpoint of the season. He could also be back in time for the opener. The Eagles don’t have to make a move. They have pretty good depth at DT as of now. They could get by for a month or two without Jernigan if needed.

Cleaning Out The Draft Weekend Notebook - PE.com
The biggest positional question marks on the team? Probably linebacker, where the Eagles remained status quo with the current roster on draft weekend, and the punter/holder spot. Jordan Hicks is a gigantic key for this season, and he’s been diligent in his rehab from the torn Achilles tendon and is confident with his progress. Paul Worrilow and Joe Walker are the anticipated backups to Hicks. Nigel Bradham is on the strong side and Mychal Kendricks is the incumbent on the weak side, with free agent signee Corey Nelson expected to push for playing time. Nathan Gerry and Kamu Grugier-Hill are going to be key on special teams as they look to find their roles in the linebacker room.

Quest for culture: A look inside the Eagles’ ‘cohabitation matrix’ - ESPN
The Philadelphia Eagles have concluded that a heavy focus on player fit is essential to thrive in the modern NFL, so they chase after it in any way they can, from van rides to the airport to trips deep into the cohabitation matrix. The cohabitation matrix? Executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman dropped the term during a recent interview session, mostly because he just likes to say it. It’s a system set up by VP of player personnel Joe Douglas, he explained, that ensures that every person in the building who has a history with a prospective free agent or trade acquisition gets to weigh in on their experiences with that player before the move is made.

2019 NFL Draft – early players to watch - PFF
Deebo Samuel, South Carolina, 85.5 overall grade (2016): Limited to only 146 snaps a year ago, Samuel will look to regain his 2016 form that saw him force 18 missed tackles on only 59 catches. When healthy, he’s an explosive, slippery athlete as a route runner and in space.

Philadelphia Eagles enlist Jostens for first Super Bowl ring - SportsPro
The National Football League’s (NFL) championship-winning Philadelphia Eagles have named Jostens as their official championship jeweller. Under the terms of the deal, the Minnesota-based company will work with the Eagles ownership team to design and develop the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl ring following their 41-33 win over the New England Patriots in February. The ring will be unveiled in a special ceremony announced at a later date. In addition, the Eagles and Jostens have collaborated to create custom jewellery collections for Eagles fans, including a limited-edition replica championship ring.

Eagles need a slot replacement for Patrick Robinson. Could it be 5-9 rookie Avonte Maddox? - Inquirer
If you’re a reporter covering the Eagles, May 29 is a day you no doubt have circled on your calendar. It’s Jim Schwartz Day. It will be the very first time we’re going to get the opportunity to talk to the Eagles’ elusive defensive coordinator since, well, four days before their 41-33 Super Bowl victory over Bill Belichick and the Evil Empire. One of the first things he’ll no doubt be asked about since he declined to talk after the game will be the matter of those 505 passing yards by Tom Brady against his unit before Brandon Graham’s fourth-quarter strip sack made it all moot. At some point shortly after that, we’ll move back to the present and he’ll be quizzed about his cornerback situation, particularly who is going to replace Patrick Robinson in the slot this season.

First, her Eagles beat his Patriots in the Super Bowl. Then, she ‘took’ his kidney - Sac Bee
A Philadelphia Eagles fan got to see her team’s first Super Bowl win in February. A month later, she celebrated a much more important victory. Patricia Pizzimenti – described as a lifelong Eagles fan by WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn. – received a kidney from a man she’d never met. That man’s name is John Houlihan – who happens to be a fan of the Patriots, the team the Eagles beat in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis.

Saquon Barkley’s Enormous Projected Contract, Lamar Jackson’s Lack of an Agent - Sports Illustrated
Saquon Barkley, by virtue of being the second pick in the draft, will soon own the second-largest contract for a running back in NFL history for total amount guaranteed (over $31 million, second only to Adrian Peterson who was guaranteed $36 million in his 2011 extension with the Vikings), and one of the top contracts for an active running back in terms of annual value ($7.8 million). Teams are valuing elite runners at the top of the draft—Ezekiel Elliott, Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey and now Barkley—while the veteran running back market has cratered in the past couple of years. Execs realize they can go young, at fixed and reasonable rates, at the position. And despite their early success and promise, one can only wonder the market for these backs after their rookie deals. The business of the NFL is coldest to running backs, the position with the game’s shortest shelf life.

Matt Ryan signs five-year contract extension with $100 million guaranteed, averaging $30 million per year - The Falcoholic
We knew the Atlanta Falcons were racing to get a contract extension done with quarterback Matt Ryan, and the deal has reportedly finally been struck. They were unable to get a deal in before the Kirk Cousins deal, but they luckily don’t have to outdo the upcoming Aaron Rodgers deal.

Eagles make a home in DeKalb County - The News Sun
Towering sycamore trees rise along the banks of Cedar Creek south of Auburn. Two-thirds of the way up one of those trees, a pair of bald eagles have built their giant nest — believed to be the first of its kind in DeKalb County. The eagles have been spotted along the creek for a couple of years, but they started building a nest this winter, said Jeff and Jodie Brantley, who watched the process from their home about 200 yards away.

A law professor explains why it’ll be ‘a bitch’ for Eric Reid to prove NFL collusion - SB Nation
Eric Reid joined Colin Kaepernick in taking a knee to protest racial injustice, and now he joins him with a collusion grievance against the NFL. Here’s what you need to know.
