All eyes were rightfully on Carson Wentz as the Philadelphia Eagles began their first OTA practice of the 2018 offseason on Tuesday.
Now more than five months into his ACL recovery, Wentz still isn’t participating in full team drills. But the third-year quarterback is doing individual work. See for yourself in the video below, courtesy of BGN Radio’s John Barchard. (Click here if you can’t see the embed.)

Now, I’m obviously no medical expert, but this seems pretty encouraging. Wentz doesn’t seem significantly hampered. His accuracy doesn’t appear to be an issue, either.
It’s early in the offseason, and things can always change, but for now I still believe Wentz’s goal of playing in Week 1 is not unrealistic. All signs have been pointing in that positive direction throughout his recovery process.
It’s very true that the Eagles don’t need to rush Wentz back on to the field, especially with Nick Foles backing him up. But they also don’t need to hold him back if he’s truly progressing well and is genuinely ready to play.
So far, so good on that front.
