Eagles depth chart: Projecting Philadelphia’s starters in 2018

Early look at the first team units.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles-OTA Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles completed their first OTA practice of the 2018 offseason on Tuesday. Here’s a look at what their current depth chart looks like based on which players took first team reps. Keep in mind it’s only May and there’s still plenty of team for this tentative depth chart to change by the time final cuts are made before Week 1.

QUARTERBACK

First team: Nick Foles*

Second team: Nate Sudfeld

Third team: Joe Callahan

*Carson Wentz obviously isn’t practicing yet so Foles is filling in with the first team. Wentz took reps as the fourth quarterback in individual drills.

RUNNING BACK

First team: Jay Ajayi

Backups: Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, Donnel Pumphrey, Matt Jones, Josh Adams

Sproles isn’t at OTAs but he’d likely see some time as the first/second running back if he was here. Pumphrey is still only fourth on the depth chart. Adams didn’t practice as he’s still recovering from a foot injury.

WIDE RECEIVER

First team: Mack Hollins*, Mike Wallace, Nelson Agholor (slot)

Backups: Shelton Gibson, Greg Ward, Bryce Treggs, Marquess Wilson, Markus Wheaton, Rashard Davis, Anthony Mahoungou, Tim Wilson

*Alshon Jeffery isn’t practicing yet so Hollins is filling in for him.

TIGHT END

First team: Zach Ertz

Backups: Richard Rodgers, Dallas Goedert, Billy Brown, Adam Zaruba, Josh Perkins

The veteran Rodgers is currently ahead of the rookie Goedert. Not a surprise this early in the offseason.

OFFENSIVE LINE

First team: Jason Peters, Stefen Wisniewski, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson

Second team: Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Chance Warmack, Jon Toth, Matt Pryor, Taylor Hart

Third team: Jordan Mailata, Aaron Evans, Ian Park, Darrell Greene, Toby Weathersby

It’s good to see JP was healthy enough to practice. Isaac Seumalo notably isn’t listed here since he wasn’t participating in team drills. He WAS taking snaps at center in 7-on-7 drills, which is interesting. Pryor also got some work at tackle in addition to guard.

DEFENSIVE LINE

First team: Derek Barnett*, Chris Long*, Fletcher Cox, Destiny Vaeao*

Backups: Elijah Qualls, Winston Craig, Bruce Hector

*Brandon Graham is out due to injury and Micahel Bennett currently isn’t attending OTAs. Tim Jernigan’s injury and Haloti Ngata not participating in team drills opened up first team reps for Vaeao.

LINEBACKER

First team: Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham, Corey Nelson*

Backups: Mychal Kendricks, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Nate Gerry, Paul Worrilow, Joe Walker, LaRoy Reynolds, Asantay Brown

*Nelson got first team WILL linebacker reps. Kendricks was not seen at practice and Pederson did not mention him as one of the players skipping OTAs. Interesting.

Hicks did not do team drills. Worrilow was carted out of practice with a knee injury. Didn’t look good. Gerry and Grugier-Hill rotated in with the first team defense at times even prior to Worrilow getting hurt.

Walker and Reynolds also sat out of practice.

CORNERBACK

First team: Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones (slot)

Backups: Rasul Douglas, De’Vante Bausby, Avonte Maddox, D.J. Killings, Randall Goforth, Chandon Sullivan

Mills and Darby lined up as the outside corners in base with Jones playing the slot in nickel. Last year at this time, Mills and Patrick Robinson were the outside corners with Mills shifting to the slot and Douglas coming in to play on the outside. The point here is that there’s plenty of time for things to change.

SAFETY

First team: Malcolm Jenkins, Rodney McLeod

Backups: Tre Sullivan, Jeremy Reaves, Stephen Roberts, Ryan Neal

Chris Maragos isn’t practicing yet so that opened up an opportunity for Sullivan and Reaves to line up as the backup safeties. During his pre-practice press conference, Pederson did not close the door on re-signing Corey Graham.

KICKER

First team: Jake Elliott

PUNTER

First team: Cameron Johnston

LONG SNAPPER

First team: Rick Lovato
