Eagles 2018 NFL preseason games schedule is here (and features a Super Bowl rematch!)

Biggest news of the year.

NFL: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 NFL preseason schedule is officially here. It’s only been two months and one week since the 2017 season ended (when the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl) but now we already know who’s playing who in the summer.

Here’s the entire Eagles 2018 preseason slate. Exact dates and start times for all the games will be announced later, but the initial listing includes which teams will be facing off. Games will be aired on NBC Philadelphia and SportsRadio 94WIP. Plus one national game highlighted below.

Week 1 - Pittsburgh Steelers (HOME) — August 9-13

Week 2 - New England Patriots (AWAY) — August 16-20

Week 3 - Cleveland Browns (AWAY) — Thursday, Aug. 23 at 8:00 PM ET on FOX

Week 4 - New York Jets (HOME) — August 30-31

Important preseason schedule analysis

  • The Eagles begin their preseason schedule with The Battle of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh’s last regular season trip to Philadelphia didn’t go so hot for them.
  • SUPER BOWL REMATCH! The Eagles playing the Patriots in the preseason after beating them in February is pretty fun. “Hey, remember that time we beat you earlier this year? Remember how Tom Brady fumbled the game away? And dropped a wide open pass? Total choker. Yeah, that was pretty cool.”
  • Will Carson Wentz be ready in time for the dress rehearsal game in Cleveland? I’m sure he’s too nice to do it but he should remind the Browns that they’re 1-31 since passing on him.
  • I wonder if the Eagles will have joint training camp practices with one of their exhibition opponents. They held those with the Dolphins last year in Philadelphia. That was the third week of the preseason.
  • The preseason schedule wraps up with the annual backup bowl tradition with the New York Jets. This marks the 18th consecutive year the Eagles finish their preseason versus the J-e-t-s. The two teams have played in 32 of the last 33 preseasons (and twice in 1992).
  • Fun fact: Doug Pederson is 6-2 in eight preseason games. He’s 23-12 in games that actually matter (20-12 in the regular season, 3-0 in the playoffs). Doug just wins.

Speaking of schedules, here’s a reminder of the Eagles’ 2018 regular season opponents. This year’s entire NFL schedule won’t be officially released for a week or so, but here’s a look at who the Eagles play. 2017 regular season record included in parentheses.
