The new league year hasn’t even officially started yet and Philadelphia Eagles executive vice president Howie Roseman has (reportedly) already made two trades.
Here are some immediate reactions and relevant old tweets pertaining to Roseman’s latest deal: trading veteran receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for young cornerback Daryl Worley.

Hurney didn't draft Worley, but there were flashes of promise. TS has been on a steady decline for years. https://t.co/wSvtcnzTkk

“The trade is a curious one, as it appeared that by the end of the 2017 season, Daryl Worley was the Panthers’ best CB.”https://t.co/PbZ0Ad4a9L

My take on the trade: Smith was a lock to be gone. Getting anything for him is a bonus. Worley is young, cheap, and at least has some potential. https://t.co/eJgHBMcpVU

Also: Torrey Smith stepped up in the playoffs. 20 targets for 13 recs, 157 yards, 1 TD. Drew a big PI in Falcons game. It was time for Eagles to move on, but he did his part to help win the Super Bowl.

.@Eagles @dworley7 is a @WVUfootball player who the have admired 32 starts/3 int/19pd and at 6’1” is long and will stick you. Lot of competition at CB. Let the fun begin. #BaldyBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/RZmbK6NuXp

Worley INT. Panthers show 2 safeties, but transition to a cover 3 with 33 cheating to 24's side. This is how you play cover 3 CB pic.twitter.com/vVLPf4JEL9

Worley's press man skills slowly improving. He also does a nice job of flipping his hips here pic.twitter.com/sMbW7WR8Dk

Worley vs Jackson. Washington attempts a pick, but Worley fights through it to stay with DJax and causes him to try going vertical pic.twitter.com/8npg6j6US7

As I have it, PHI still has to clear just under $10M in Top-51 contracts before 3/14. Cutting Vinny Curry (pre-June 1st) and Brent Celek would account for $8M in opened space.

Torrey Smith’s cap savings will not benefit the Eagles until AFTER the start of the new league year, meaning that they still need to shave off quite a bit of money before March 14. Plenty more moves are coming.
