The Philadelphia Eagles signed six players to contracts, according to an official announcement from the team.

Note that these are actually NOT futures contracts. Futures contracts are only signed between the end of the regular season and before the Super Bowl ends.

The six players are: wide receiver Rashard Davis, offensive guard Darrell Greene, cornerback D.J. Killings, safety Tre Sullivan, wide receiver Bryce Treggs, and wide receiver Greg Ward.

All six of these players finished the 2017 season on the Eagles’ practice squad. It’s pretty standard practice for NFL teams to sign their practice squad players to deals in order to help fill out the 90-man offseason roster. These players will compete for depth jobs in preseason and training camp.

Here are some quick thoughts on each player.

Davis - Slot guy. Really productive punt returner in college. Could compete for a role there.

Greene - Originally signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Could compete for a reserve role.

Killings - Signed with the practice squad during the season. After the NFC Championship Game, Nelson Agholor tweeted the following about Killings: “That boy a dog! He deserve this for all the hard work in practice!” Given that Agholor primarily plays in the slot, I’d imagine Killings is lining up over him as a nickel corner. With Patrick Robinson potentially moving on, maybe Killings is worth keeping an eye on.

Sullivan - Showed some real nice potential in preseason and training camp. Sulivan is the guy who hospitalized that Packers rookie receiver with a huge hit in preseason. Has a shot to make the team.

Treggs - Had a stint on the Browns’ 53-man roster in 2017 after starting out on the Eagles’ practice squad. Treggs was Philadelphia’s leading receiver last preseason. Maybe this is the year he can stick on a 53 somewhere.

Ward - Showed surprisingly nice progress transitioning from quarterback to slot wide receiver as an undrafted rookie in training camp. Interested to see how he does this offseason.

It’s worth noting that four of the Eagles’ final 10 practice squad players were NOT signed to contracts yet. Those players include: tight end Billy Brown, cornerback De’Vante Bausby, safety Harold Jones-Quartey, and offensive guard Josh Andrews. It’s very possible the Eagles will officially sign them to deals soon. It’s also possible they could sign with other teams, since they are now free agents.

The Eagles have now signed 12 players since the end of the regular season. Complete list below:
