Eagles won’t be playing in 2018 Hall of Fame Game

Good and bad news.

Despite the fact that two former Philadelphia Eagles players have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2018, the Birds will NOT be featured in this year’s Hall of Fame Game.

On Tuesday, the NFL officially announced the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears will face off on Aug. 2 instead.

The Eagles seemed like an obvious pick for the Hall of Fame Game given that there are going to be a lot of Philly fans in Canton, Ohio that weekend to see Brian Dawkins’ Hall of Fame enshrinement. (And Terrell Owens’, too.)

But the NFL had different ideas. And that’s not so terrible for the Eagles, who now won’t have to play a fifth preseason game and further risk unnecessary injury.

Now we know the Eagles will have their first 2018 preseason game sometime in the range of Aug. 9 through Aug. 12. That’s only about 177 days away!
