Eagles lose their preseason color analyst to the Raiders

Good news for Mike, bad news for the Eagles.

NFL: Combine Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Well, Mike Mayock will no longer be the color analyst for Philadelphia Eagles preseason games. The Oakland Raiders are hiring him to be their new general manager, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.

So that’s Mayock as general manger and Jon Gruden as head coach. The Raiders are the TV analyst football team!

It’s cool to see Mayock, a Philly native, get a big opportunity like this. He’s certainly deserving.

On the other hand, it’ll be a bummer to not have him around for his quality draft analysis on NFL Network and his insightful commentary as a member of the Eagles preseason broadcast team.

Mayock started doing Eagles preseason broadcasts leading up to the 2015 season. He added to the viewing experience by offering good insight and analysis. That’s not always an easy find when it comes to color guys. Hopefully the Eagles will find someone good to work with Scott Graham.
