Report: Eagles not interested in Kareem Hunt

What’s next for the former Chiefs running back?

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have “no interest” in signing former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, according to a report from NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn. The Chiefs released Hunt on Friday following the emergence of a video that shows him shoving and kicking a woman.

Gunn’s report is worth noting here following speculation that emerged over the weekend about the Eagles’ potential interest in Hunt.

The reality is the Eagles might not have a chance to add Hunt to their team even if they wanted to do so. Hunt is still subject to waivers and it sounds like it’s possible one team might actually claim him.

The waiver claim order is based on the current 2019 NFL Draft order so that means there are 13 teams with claim priority ahead of Philadelphia. The claim results will be official at 4:00 PM today.

Even if Hunt IS claimed, he’s not going to be eligible to play right away. He’s currently on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. In addition, Hunt is facing at least (?) a potential six-game suspension for the incident that was caught on video. There’s also talk of a second alleged assault that’s being investigated.

We’ll soon see what happens next for Hunt.

UPDATE: Hunt went unclaimed on waivers. He’s now a free agent available to sign with any team.
