Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson presents unique challenges for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, and not just with his legs. That’s not to say that the Eagles shouldn’t be concerned with that aspect of his game, as it’s certainly dangerous.

Jim Schwartz's staff does this to help devise rush plans. 4/4 out of the pocket. 6 of 9 runs were scrambles & only 1 scramble was to the right. Wonder if that holds up w/more charting. pic.twitter.com/cTxvCZhb1R
Watson can get it done with his arm too and the Texans’ combo of Watson and DeAndre Hopkins is dynamic. The Eagles will have to neutralize Hopkins as best they can and make Watson win in other ways. This likely means following the Bill Belichick school of thought of taking away an offenses’ best receiving threat by bracketing and doubling them.

Beyond that, the Texans will challenge the Eagles with play-action. Over the last three weeks they’ve used run-fakes on 27% of their dropbacks and Watson has a 145.9 QB Rating working off those concepts. This often comes from their 12 personnel grouping, which they use a league-high 37% of the time. One play-call they’ll dial up is “Yankee”, which is a favorite around the league.
