NFL Mock Draft 2019

As the season comes to its halfway point, the Eagles are still very much looking for clarity on their identity at 4-4. Even as the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Eagles look like a team in need of help on both sides of the ball. With the draft ever looming, here’s an idea of how the first round of the draft would shake out at this point. Draft order based on winning percentage and strength of schedule.

1. New York Giants: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon- Despite being the weakest quarterback class in a few years, the Giants need to take a chance on the talented Herbert to replace Eli Manning.
2. Oakland Raiders: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston- The gutted Raiders roster needs to add the best player available. An embarrassment of choices among defensive line prospects will make for a hard decision, but Oliver’s ceiling is hard to beat.
3. San Francisco 49ers: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU: The Niners had their season derailed by Jimmy G’s injury. Recompense is they get high draft pick in a loaded defensive draft. Williams is too good to pass up here.
4. Buffalo Bills: Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State-The Bills could reach for an offensive player here, but are better suited to take a potentially elite defensive prospect.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama- No brainer pick to protect Josh Rosen for the foreseeable future.
6. Cleveland Browns: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama- The Browns have a lot of young and exciting pieces on offense and should add more playmakers to their young defensive line.
7. New York Jets: N’keal Harry, WR, ASU- Sam Darnold needs weapons, period. Harry is a big play guy who can help in all facets of a passing game.
8. Denver Broncos: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson- The Broncos need to rebuild on the defensive side of the ball and Lawrence is a fantastic interior space water and disruptor.
9. Indianapolis Colts: DeAndre Baker, CB, Georgia-The Colts need to keep adding playmakers to a young and improving defense.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama- The Jaguars would like a quarterback here, but the lack of available talent means they add another rangy defensive back to their secondary.
11. Detroit Lions: Josh Allen, EDGE, Kentucky: The Lions need pass rush help and Josh Allen can provide that in spades.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State: Despite a high budget defensive line, the Bucs lack dynamic pass rushers. Sweat can change that.
13. Tennessee Titans: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State- The second bulldog in a row, the Titans add necessary beef to their defensive front.
14. Oakland Raiders (Via Cowboys): Kelvin Harmon, WR, NC State- The Raiders will need to address the hole at pass catcher this offseason. Harmon is a big target and big play threat.
15. Green Bay Packers: Devin White, LB, LSU- The Packers defense, while promising, still needs more playmakers. Devin White can quarterback a defense while adding physicality.
16. Baltimore Ravens: JJ Arcega Whiteside, WR, Stanford- The Ravens need to add pass catchers to make for a comfortable situation that Lamar Jackson can step into next year. JJ Arcega Whiteside is a do-it-all stud.
17. Seattle Seahawks: Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss- Will 2019 be the year the Seahawks actually get Russell Wilson decent protection?
18. Philadelphia Eagles: David Edwards, OT, Wisconsin- The Eagles have a lot of needs at this point, but nothing more pressing than getting Carson Wentz long term protection. The Eagles have allowed way too many sacks this year and Edwards would be a welcome presence at either tackle spot.
19. Atlanta Falcons: Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson: The Falcons have lost a lot of firepower on defense to injuries but also some players have been overall disappointments. The Falcons will likely replace Vic Beasley this offseason and who better to do that than another Clemson pass rusher.
20. Miami Dolphins: AJ Brown, WR, Ole Miss- The Dolphins have a handful of question marks on their team, but adding a dynamic pass catcher couldn’t hurt whoever is quarterbacking in 2019.
21. Minnesota Vikings: Dalton Risner, OT, KSU- The Vikings have a fantastic roster outside of a weak offensive line. Risner would be a day one upgrade.
22. Washington: Devin Bush, LB, Michigan- Washington’s defense is much improved this year but an added talent like Devin Bush could make it a top tier unit.
23. Cincinnati Bengals: Byron Murphy, CB, Washington- It always seems like the Bengals are drafting cornerbacks and this year should be no different. Murphy is a stud.
24. Houston Texans: Yodny Cajuste, OT, WVU: The Texans need to protect Deshaun Watson going forward.
25. Oakland Raiders (via the Bears): Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida: The Raiders use their third pick in the first round to keep juicing up a talent starved defense.
26. Pittsburgh Steelers: Amani Oruwariye, CB, PSU: The Steelers have no trouble scoring points but desperately need defenders who can stop opponents from being able to keep up.
27. Los Angeles Chargers: Dremont Jones, DT, Ohio State- The Chargers defense is good enough as is, but it is scary to imagine it with a disruptive guy like Jones in the middle.
28. Carolina Panthers: Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan- The Panthers need to add juice to an aging defensive line. Gary is a versatile and high upside playmaker.
29. New England Patriots: Tevon Coney, LB, Notre Dame- The Patriots could add more physicality to their linebacker corps. Coney is a hard hitting linebacker who has improved massively in coverage this year.
30. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans): Hakeem Butler, WR, ISU: The Packers need someone who can stretch the field. Randall Cobb isn’t his old self and Devante Adams is better as an intermediate threat. Butler is a huge target who can make plays deep down the field and in the red zone.
31. Los Angeles Rams: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa- Why not make the NFL’s most talented offense completely indefensible. Fant would be just another mismatch for Sean McVay to play with.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Jerry Tillery, DT, Norte Dame- Andy Reid loves adding big, athletic defensive linemen and Tillery would be a welcomed addition to a Chiefs defense in need of youth.
