Here’s a look at which teams Philadelphia Eagles fans should be rooting for during NFL Week 12 games.
EAGLES GAME
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles: It’s understandable some might want to see the Eagles lose and get a better draft pick. With the Eagles “still alive” in the NFC East, though, it’s fair to hold out hope for a win. Root, root, root for the home team.
NFC EAST GAMES
No other NFC East games on today since the Cowboys and Washington played on Thanksgiving.
NFC GAMES
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers: Wouldn’t mind seeing the Bucs end up with a higher draft pick than the Giants. Maybe Tampa Bay’s new regime moves on from Jameis Winston and drafts a quarterback. Root for the 49ers.
Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers: If the Eagles are somehow going to make the playoffs, it’s probably going to be by winning the division. According to Football Outsiders, Philadelphia only has a 0.4% chance of getting a wild card. So with in mind, I’d rather the Seahawks win because they’re in closer competition to Philly when it comes to draft positioning. Root for the Seahawks.
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers: The Cards are one of three teams with fewer losses than the Giants. Gotta keep it that way. Root for the Chargers.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings: The Packers are closer competition to Philly when it comes to draft positioning. Root for the Packers.
DRAFT PICK WATCH
Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are 5-5 after beating Cincy last week. If the season ended today, they’d make the playoffs as the sixth seed in the AFC playoff picture. Not ideal for the Eagles since they own Baltimore’s 2019 second-round pick. It feels hopeless but you should be rooting for Jon Gruden’s team. Root for the Raiders.
WHAT’S LEFT
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals: If you want the Eagles to have a chance at a better draft pick, you want the Browns to win. Then again, it’d be nice to see the Bengals win because that’ll make it tougher for the Ravens to make the playoffs. So kind of a win-win here. Root for the Browns.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills: In the battle of these two 3-7 teams, it’d be preferable to see the Jags lose. Jacksonville might actually draft a quarterback ahead of the Giants in order to try to replace Blake Bortles. Root for the Bills.
Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts: Missing you, Frank Reich. Root for the Colts.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos: The Eagles and Broncos are both 4-6. With the NFL Draft in mind, it’d be good to see the Broncos win. Don’t want the Steelers losing too much, though, since they’d be in danger of surrendering the AFC North to Baltimore. So, look at a Pittsburgh win as a consolation prize in that regard. Root for the Broncos.
BYE WEEKS
Kansas City Chiefs: Andy Reid’s team returns from their bye to play in Oakland.
Los Angeles Rams: The Rams will play the Lions in Detroit next Sunday.
