Survey shows Eagles fans don’t really see the Giants as rivals anymore

FanPulse update.

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across the NFL powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week, we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Eagles fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

It’s Rivalry Week here at the SB Nation NFL team sites, so this week’s FanPulse polling asked: “Which team do Eagles fans say is their top rival?” The results are in:

Given the amount of “F*** Dallas” and “Dallas Sucks” comments here at BGN (there’s a 90% chance one of those is going to be the first comment on this thread), it’s no surprise to see the Cowboys as the number one enemy. Blogging The Boy’s FanPulse results show the hatred is mutual.

The Eagles’ rival with the second most votes is the current NFC East leader: Washington. Once again, the feeling is mutual. Hogs Haven FanPulse results show that Washington fans view the Eagles as rivals only behind the Cowboys.

Coming in at third overall is a team that’s not even an NFC East rival: the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams were included here because SB Nation asked for four options from all sites. I put out a poll asking for the Eagles’ biggest non-division rival and received a lot of responses about the Rams due to Carson Wentz versus Jared Goff and Doug Pederson versus Sean McVay.

Not surprisingly, Rams fans don’t see the Eagles as a rival. In fact, the only non-division team to include the Eagles as one of their opponent was ... the Buccaneers fans over at Bucs Nation. Weird.

And that brings us to the team that finished last in BGN’s polling with only 4% of the vote: the New York Giants.

I’m guessing that the voters don’t feel like the Giants are rivals because the “rivalry” has been so one-sided lately. The Eagles are 17-4 in their last 21 games against the Giants. To put that in perspective, Donovan McNabb (!) has as many wins (4-0) in the last 21 Eagles-Giants games as Eli Manning (4-17).

The Eagles’ recent dominance over the Giants actually puts Philadelphia in a spot to make some history when these two teams face off this Sunday. If the Eagles win, the all-time series between these “rivals” will be tied for the first time since they started playing each other in 1933. The Eagles have never previously tied or led the series, which is currently at 85-86-2 on Philadelphia’s side.

But while Eagles fans might not see the Giants as rivals, the feeling is different over at Big Blue View.

In my lifetime, Dallas has always felt like the Eagles’ biggest rival. There’s a real hatred for those band-wagon Cowboys fans. They’re the anti-thesis of Philly’s die-hard sports fans. The Giants have also felt like rivals but more in a brotherly way. In general, I feel like I have more respect for Giants fans than those despicable Cowboys fans.

What say you?

On an off topic note, here’s a look at some Thanksgiving FanPulse results:

I voted for cranberry sauce. I just don’t get it.

I don’t think I’ve ever had brussels sprouts. I don’t really have an interest in trying.

Green bean casserole is hardly a favorite but it’s not THE worst.

Whoever voted for stuffing and mashed potatoes should be in jail.
